    Genesis

    The Physiotherapy Department in the AWH Special College was established in the year 1996, as a beacon light of hope in the emerging field of Physiotherapy education and practice. The college during the past seven years have gained a name in the profession within and outside the state. Graduates from this Physiotherapy College are now serving humanity through out the world validating the academic excellence they have been provided.

    Vision and Mission

    Physiotherapy has emerged as one of the most popular treatment methods and has entered every walk of today's life. The service of this young branch of Medical Science is used in all areas of alleviation from Paediatrics to Geriatrics. Physiotherapy joins hand with such branches of Medicine Neurology, Orthopaedics, Cardiology and Sport Medicine to heal and rehabilitate their patients, to provide fitness and its momentous role is widely appreciated today. The Department envisions bringing out uniquely experienced and outstandingly trained Physiotherapy Clinicians and academic experts who can be of immense use for the society. AWH aims at facilitating comprehensive and integrated development of individuals not only with excellent professional skills but also with self-esteem and leadership qualities.

  • Department of Social Work

    The department of social work offers courses for graduation and post graduation for a career in social works. The career opportunities are in the areas like rural and the urban community development, hospitals, family counseling, school social work, child welfare and administration of NGOs. The department offers excellent opportunities for students to incorporate working experience into their course curriculum. MSW’s are the most wanted skilled persons; especially in professionally managed Non Governmental Organizations (NGO), training institutions, counseling centres, autonomous bodies, Panchayath institutions etc, and in implementation of projects- UNESCO, UNICEF, WORLD BANK, WHO etc. Abundant job opportunities exist for the holders of MSW in the country and abroad.

  • Department of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology

    Goals And Objectives

    This is a four semester full time post graduate dual PG program in Audiology and Speech Pathology with two years duration. The duration of each semester is six months. In recent years, there has been an increase in the global demand for audiologists due to the modernization of audiology, especially in the western and Middle East countries. This has resulted in a major drain of skilled audiologists to these countries and a shortage of qualified audiology and speech pathology professionals in India. Our MASLP program was started in the year 2006 in order to fill this gap. This program is affiliated to the University of Calicut and recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India.

  • Department of Geology

    Only a very few colleges under the universities of Kerala provide Geology although it has got demand in various sectors of human life. New combinations of Geo-informatics and chemistry are unique. The well-trained faculty, well-equipped laboratories, museum and library with books/articles of national and international circulation makes the subject interesting and worthy. The yearly exposures of students to various reputed institutions, fields and places of academic importance all over India helps to realize the fascinating subject at its fullest sense.

  • Department of Electronics

    This Department has not only got the technical competence but is also facilitated with all modern equipments. The well-qualified and highly motivated staff of this department together with the ambience helps the students acquire necessary theoretical and practical knowledge in this promising area of engineering. The laboratories Electronics Lab, Microprocessor lab and Integrated Circuits lab share the activities in this Department. These labs aim at imparting a practical knowledge concerning the various audio frequency oscillators, multi-vibrators and the latest in optical technology.
